CD -Back Where I Come From

Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards Recording of the Year (2018)

The CD, recorded at Operation Northwoods in Mono Ontario, is a mix of original and traditional bluegrass music and represents a great cross section of the bands talent. The title track, Back Where I Come From, was written by band member John Mcdonald and reflects the theme that runs its way throughout the CD with titles such as Only a Memory, Falling & If it Wasn't for Love. Contributors to the original material consist of band members John McDonald, Nick McDonald & Dave Jack.
The goal of this project was to capture the essence of the band's strong writing & vocal talents while showcasing the instrumental capabilities of all the players. Anyone who has heard Traditionally Wound in person will not be disappointed as the energy and feeling produced in their live shows has burned its way off the stage and onto the CD.

This is the second project for the band since forming in 2007, and this latest cd reflects the current lineup since going through some major personnel since the last cd Rural Change which was released in 2011 & also received Record of the Year at the Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards. This latest project released in the fall of 2018 has been getting lots of attention since being uploaded to Airplay Direct resulting in well over 500 radio station downloads and being selected in the regular rotation of many. It is available through ITUNES and most other digital media sites and of course through the band if their are those wanting physical copies to take home.

Operation Northwoods is located about an hour north of Toronto in the hills of Mono. The studio is owned and operated by Juno award winning Darryl Neudorf who has recorded such musicians as Blue Rodeo, Neko Case, The Sadies and Justin Rutledge.

TRADITIONALLY WOUND
BACK WHERE I COME FROM

TW Productions
TW2018
This group, based in Ontario, Canada consists of three McDonalds, John (guitar), Justin (guitar) and Nick (mandolin), along with Tyler Beckett (fiddle), Sheldon Speedie (bass), and Dave Jack (banjo), forming an award-winning ensemble who have been entertaining folks for a number of years. The group’s 2018 awards from the Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards include Vocal Group and Overall Group, and their song “Back Where I Came From” won Recording Of The Year award. Sheldon Speedie won Bass Player Of The Year, while fiddle player Beckett is an Honor Roll Inductee for his numerous awards.
This new project is an example of why these awards were earned. The band’s sound is bluegrass with a contemporary edge and features the songwriting of the McDonalds mixed in with a few more familiar tunes. The McDonalds share the lead vocals and harmonies, and all bandmembers are good musicians and have produced a delightful project. The original tunes include “Red River Line,” “Oh Carolina,” “Only A Memory,” “Parts Of You,” “Forever In A Song,” and “Falling.” Banjo player Jack contributes “Wound,” while other selections include Gillian Welch’s “Tear That Still House Down” and Gordon Lightfoot’s “Redwood Hill.” There are also two Monroe covers, “Used To Be To You” and the instrumental “Roanoke.” This is a very enjoyable project from this popular Canadian group.
